A sparkling, boisterous and sometimes downright pretty follow-up to the band’s previous releases You & Me Lee (2022) and Nearly A Complete Ghost (2019), Need You Star is somewhat of a transmutation of the darker subject matter of the band’s catalog to a brighter, more outward looking perspective both lyrically and musically. Tinges of outsider country, experimental pop, and gloomy folk rock meet here.

The album was recorded at Fidelitorium in Kernersville, NC and engineered, mixed and produced by Jeremy Richard Snyder (Pure Adult, IDLES, Ekko Astral, Pretty Baby). Snyder also played drums on a cover of Kris Kristofferson’s “Loving Her Was Easier…” and sprinkled synths and guitar noise across the album.
